Lifelong Airdrie fan Thomas Murning celebrated his 100th birthday in style today (Friday 13 February 2015) with a visit to the Excelsior Stadium.

Airdrie’s Honorary President Ian McMillan – the former Airdrie, Rangers and Scotland international – greeted Thomas on his special day and presented him with a commemorative strip.

Thomas Gillespie Murning, born on February 13, 1915, is also attending a family party this afternoon and will be a guest of the club at Airdrie’s home game against Forfar tomorrow evening.

He said: “I enjoyed my visit to the Excelsior Stadium on my 100th birthday. Ian McMillan presented me with a special Airdrie top and a birthday cake and I was delighted to meet him.

“I have been an Airdrie supporter all my life and it was fantastic to see Ian again. He actually presented me with a gift from the club on my 90th birthday and I still have the picture so to see him again on my 100th birthday was really special.”

Thanks to SKY Sports News, STV, the Sun and Daily Record for attending.
